Match Report: Fort Charlotte Strikers vs La Soufriere Hikers – 13th Match VPL 6.0
Hikers won the toss and chose to bat.
Hikers, as usual, didn’t mess around in the power play. They were guns blazing and finished the power play on 43 without loss, setting an excellent platform on a wonderful batting surface. Anything slightly off a length was destroyed. Jeheil Walters and Dejourn Charles put on an impressive 105 for the first wicket partnership, in 47 deliveries. Charles and Walters fell in quick succession. The damage was already done and Hikers finished on 132/4 from their 10 overs. Jeheil Walters top scored with 51 from 25 deliveries hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes. Dejourn Charles made 48 from 26, hitting 1 four and 6 sixes. Jerome Jones had a good day with the ball, taking 2/16.
Strikers changed up their batting, putting Jerome Jones at the top but it didn’t pay off as he was gone the first delivery of the chase. Strikers found the boundary often and were 50/2 after 4 overs. Carlos Brathwaite offered some hope when he hit 2 sixes off Rayan Williams but Williams bounced back beautifully to trap him lbw with a bullseye yorker. It was all but over for Strikers. They got to 98 in their 10 overs. Sealroy Williams played a good hand with 27 from 14 deliveries, hitting fours and 2 sixes. Rayan Williams was the pick of the bowlers for Hikers with 2/21.
