Match Report: Grenadines Divers vs Fort Charlotte Strikers – 8th Match VPL 6.0
Divers won the toss and chose to field.
Strikers got off to a miserable start, losing Kyle Jordan for four, and captain Pope for 1, to set them back at 14/2 after the three over power play. Rambaran was the bowler responsible for the miserable start for the divers as he found top edge of both Jordan and Pope’s bat, trying to cut and sweep respectively. Rambaran had 2/15 from his two over spell.
The batting display from Strikers was terrible. They were reduced to 26/5 during the half way stage, as Obed McCoy had three wickets in his first over. He bowled brilliantly, bowling stiff length on a pitch with some offer. Thankfully for Strikers, Sealroy Williams was able to offer some hope as his knock of 45 not out from 27 deliveries carried Strikers to 81 after their 10 overs.
With such a below par score, Strikers started terribly with the ball. Ryshon Williams punished the short pitch stuff he was getting from Martin to take 20 from the over. Williams played some disdainful cut and pull shots. Divers finished the power play at 45/1. Strikers managed to slow down the scoring rate to delay the inevitable loss.
Divers finished the chase in 8 overs, with Rambaran (24) and Asif (10) remaining unbeaten. Jerremy Haywood had a good outing with the ball for Strikers, snaring 2/16 with his tantalising off breaks. Obed McCoy was adjudged man of match for his wonderful spell of 3 wickets for 7 runs.
Strikers 81/5 (10 overs)
Divers 82/3 (8 overs)
