Match Report: Dark View Explorers vs Fort Charlotte Strikers – 3rd Match VPL 6.0

April 8, 2025

Strikers won the toss and chose to field.

Ray Jordan bowled a full and fast in swinger yorker and had Carter plumb lbw for a golden duck. Jacobus Pienaar marched to the crease and was going guns glazing from the start. He drove down the ground, slashed over third man and drilled through mid wicket to disrupt what could have otherwise been a destructive first over by Jordan. Pienaar was clearly loving the deck as he cut for four, then pulled a rank long hop for six then finished off the over club a wide delivery square of the wicket for another boundary to push the score to 32/1 after 2 overs. Jerome Jones with his left arm seamers broke the onslaught from Pienaar, who was clean bowled for 34 from 15 deliveries, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes.

The fall of Pienaar stifled the momentum for Explorers and Strikers bowlers took wicket consistently.  They limited Explorers to 91 all out from their 10 overs. Jeremy Layne took 3/16 from his 2 overs while Brathwaite and Jones took 2 wickets each.

Strikers founds themselves in problems early as they were reduced to 11/3. Carlos Brathwaite, hero yesterday, was still in belligerent mood as he clubbed 3 sixes in the 3rd over of the match. He was run out during the 5th over and the game then became a struggle for Strikers as they could only get to 78/8 after their 10 overs. Kemar Smith (2/5) and Trevian Matthews (2/10) were the pick of the bowlers for Explorers, helping them to secure their second win of the season.

Explorers 91 all out (10 overs)
Strikers 78/8 (10 overs)
