Grenadines Divers vs Fort Charlotte Strikers match Report – 21st Match VPL 5

Divers won the toss and chose to bat.

Chadwick Walton was dismissed for four off the first over by Ray Jordan. He went off the field as he almost spun his ankle around for the delivery that took the wicket. Divers were kept in check during the powerplay, only managing to reach 26/2.

Ryshon Williams picked the bones out of Bobb’s bowling, driving down the ground twice for maximums and cutting powerfully behind point to pick up a boundary and push Divers to 43/2 after 5 overs. Jerome Jones removed Ryshon Williams during the 6th, being brilliantly caught by Shem Browne, running back from short third man.

Rodrigo Thomas pressed on the accelerator and took a liking to Winston Samuel as he dispatched 3 sixes and picked up 2 fours to take 26 runs from the over. Carlos Brathwaite was excellent in the penultimate over, as he took 2 wickets from it for 6 runs. Divers finished their innings on 107/7. Rodrigo Thomas top scored with 47 from 21 deliveries, hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes. Jerome Jones was the pick of the bowler, taking 3/21 and Brathwaite, 2/16.

Gidron Pope got off to a good start, cutting Asif Hooper for four then swinging Richie Richards for two maximums. Salvan Browne was also on the charge and they powered Strikers to 50/0  at the end of the powerplay.

Strikers took boundaries off each over to push their way to 80/2 after 7 overs, requiring 28 runs from 18 deliveries. Sealroy Williams cracked two sixes during the 8th over to keep the chase in control for Strikers. Sealroy Williams wrapped up the match with 9 deliveries to spare, making 25 from 7 deliveries, hitting 1 four and 3 sixes.
