Match Preview: Salt Pond Breakers vs La Soufriere Hikers – 13th Match VPL 5
Salt Pond Breakers lost their first match and are still sitting well as joint 1st place in the table. Delorn Johnson has been in tremendous hitting form and more importantly, his bowling was one of the best we saw for a while, seemingly bowling with a bit more pace and hitting the wicket a bit harder. Warrican and Fredericks were taken to the cleaners by the Rangers batsmen and no doubt, Hikers will be looking to do the same. It will also create opportunities to take wickets and they will need to grab them. Breakers will like a match winning innings from Ambris before he departs.
Hikers almost lost their previous game. Surprisingly, they squandered a superb start and struggled at the back end of their batting innings. However they have a big positive in that Desron Maloney seem to have regained some form so their top order is looking extremely dangerous. Batting has rarely failed the Hikers so if their bowlers can get the job done, they’ll be unstoppable. They however have some cause for concerns as teams nearly chased down 156 and 119, something we haven’t seen in previous editions.
