Strikers won the toss and chose to bowl.
Ray Jordan bowled the new ball and was spanked over mid on by Romano Pierre then pulled viciously for another four. That angered Jordan and he delivered some pacy deliveries and got Pierre caught behind off a short ball. Shadrack Descarte, man in form, walked to the crease. He swept the left arm spin of Alston Bobb for six then drove beautifully pass mid off to collect four.
Descarte cut Abraham for four and advanced down the track to pump left arm seamer Jones down the ground for four. Explorers finished the powerplay on 44/1. Kevin Abraham removed Walker during the 5th over. Explorers found scoring difficult as they could only get 13 runs total from the 6th and 7th over. The 8th over proved fruitful for Explorers as Stewart took two boundaries while Descarte took one, bowled by Ray Jordan to push Explorers to 81/2.
Thanks to Descarte half century, Explorers were able to get a par score of 100/2. Descarte remained unbeaten on 51 from 33 deliveries, which comprised 6 fours and 2 sixes. Navin Stewart was also unbeaten on 18 from 13 deliveries, hitting 2 fours.
Darius Martin bowled the first over and pinged Gidron Pope on the Helmet. The next time he went short, he was viciously dispatched over square leg for a maximum. Salvan Browne drove off spinner Greaves for four in the 2nd over. Salvan Browne pulled a short ball from Stewart over mid wicket for six then drove hard down the ground to pick up another maximum.
Salvan Browne, man in form, was on a mission. He hit Greaves over mid off for six then drove wide of cover to pick up a boundary. Hiram Shallow made an expansive drive square of the wicket to collect a boundary. Strikers were well in control at the end of the powerplay, being 50/1.
At the mid way stage, Strikers were 55/1, requiring 46 runs from 30 deliveries. Explorers brought on Dalzell, their best bowler in the tournament so far, but he couldn’t keep Shallow under control as he drove for four then cut and pierced the field to collect back to back boundaries. The 7th over bowled by Descarte was expensive, conceding 15 runs, which consisted of 5 wides. Strikers were 82/1 and required 19 runs from 18 deliveries, the game well in their favour.
The game was pretty much done in the 8th over when Carlos Brathwaite picked up two fours and a six. With 3 runs needed from 12 deliveries, Brathwaite slogged a big six over mid wicket to seal a third win for Strikers by 7 wickets. Salvan Browne top scored with 38 from 19 deliveries, hitting 3 fours and 3 sixes. Navin Stewart picked up 2/32 from his 2 overs.
