Grenadines Divers vs Fort Charlotte Strikers Match Report – 27th Match VPL 4
Strikers won the toss and chose to bowl.
Asif Hooper as per usual, took the new ball and was pulled for four by Ozico Williams. Strikers had a quiet start, unable to find the boundaries during their first three overs. Ozico Williams was caught by Wesrick Strough who judged a skier well during the 4th over. Hackshaw smashed a big six over mid wicket to push Strikers to 28/1 at the end of the powerplay, the game evenly in the balance at that stage.
Strikers got some decent overs to push to 48/2 after 6 overs. Hackshaw made 27 from 17 deliveries, hitting 1 four and 2 sixes. Wesrick Strough, the backend specialist removed Kirton Lavia, having him comprehensively bowled to keep Strikers in check. Strikers had a big 8th over, taking 18 from the over with Bascombe being new to the crease, hitting a six and four from his first two deliveries.
When you thought Strikers were lining up for a big finish, Wesrick Strough had other ideas as he bowled deceptively well in the penultimate over to only concede 8 runs. Strough ended with figures of 2 overs, 1 wicket for 13 runs. Thanks to Bascombe innings of 30 not out from 11 deliveries, Strikers got a decent total of 94/3 from their 10 overs. Bascombe’s innings contained 3 fours and 2 sixes.
It was another left arm finger spinner in Rasheed Fredericks to open the bowling for the match. Fredericks bowled a top first over and had the wicket of Shem Browne, caught by Miles Bascombe. Richie Richards partnered Fredericks and they both bowled beautifully in the powerplay to keep Divers to 24/1. Fredericks finished his spell with 1 wicket for 8 runs.
Divers struggle continued as Kirton Lavia dealt a double blow to them by removing Roland Cato and Asif Hooper in the sixth over. In the end, it was a dull one sided affair with Strikers winning by 34 runs.
Fort Charlotte Strikers 94/3 (10 overs)
