Match Preview: Salt Pond Breakers vs Botanical Gardens Rangers Qualifier 2 – 28th Match VPL 4
This is the 2nd time that the Rangers will be involved in the 2nd qualifier across editions and both times, the result didn’t go their way. Is this their year? The Breakers have never been in this position but they badly want to make it their 3rd time being finalists so a cracking contest is expected.
In The Spotlight
Breakers has played some good Cricket throughout this VPL and would be a shame if they don’t make it into the final. They were in a hole in their eliminator match and a ridiculous innings from Ricavo Williams carried them to a big total. That has been one of their strengths this season, winning from some difficult positions. They have a long and distance batting line up. While bowling is not their strongest suit, they have bowled better as the tournament progressed. Most of their boxes are ticked for tomorrow’s match.
Rangers are struggling with the bat. Wayne Harper is their form batsman and it seems like he hold the key to keeping the Rangers batting together. Browne, Cottoy, Dember are all capable of being destructive but they need one of their specialist batsman in the top three to go big for them. With Larry Edwards leading their attack, they have been putting up good performances. Their fielding has been a major worry, usually letting go easy catches. They’ll definitely have to improve in that regard if they are serious about making it to the finals for the first time.
