Match Preview: La Soufriere Hikers vs Botanical Gardens Rangers Qualifier 1 – 26th Match VPL 4
This is a highly anticipated game, with the winner making head way straight into the finals so both teams will be out in full force. When these sides met previously, it was a one sided affair in favour of the Rangers. Hikers has since picked form and has won their last six games and are looking like an unstoppable train at the moment. Rangers started the tournament hot, then cooled off for a bit but they are back to winning ways and can be a title contender.
In The Spotlight
Hikers have churned out runs at will. Gidron Pope initially led the way then Kavem Hodge stepped in then the runs machine Dillon Douglas stepped up. They all look in scintillating form and the Hikers train would be a hard one to stop. Add the likes of Desron Maloney and Othneil Lewis, both who hasn’t fired as yet. Hikers are looking really comfortable in their batting line up. The bowling is being led beautifully by Rayan Williams, who is the tournament leading wicket taker with 12 wickets from only six matches. Kavem Hodge has been as valuable for the Hikers, adding powerplay pressure on the opposition. Kemron Strough is another boost for them, bowling wonderful death overs in his few games so far of the tournament.
Rangers are packed with experience and that sort of experience can take you places in Cricket. They will be banking on that to bring them out of whatever pressure situation they have. Most teams have figured out by now that Rangers are kept under control with spin so they should expect that Hikers will throw lots of spin their way. Wayne Harper you feel will be critical in this game as he has looked in wonderful touch and once you get others stepping up to help the regulars of Fletcher and Salvan Browne, then you know you in a good position. Rangers haven’t been the best team in the field and this is a game where they will need to come good in that department.
A humdinger awaits us!!
