Match Preview: Salt Pond Breakers vs Fort Charlotte Strikers – 19th Match VPL 4
Breakers is the first team to have qualified for the playoffs while Strikers was the first team to be out of the playoffs. The mission for Breakers is to try to finish as high as possible in the table to have two bites of the cherry to make it into the finals. For Strikers, it’s more about bowing out on a high as it has been otherwise a horrible tournament.
In The Spotlight
Breakers were destroyed by the Hikers in their last game but one may argue it’s good to take a loss before heading into the playoffs. They however wouldn’t want to make losing a habit so they need to shake off that loss and look to rebound. Their bowling was exposed as with the exception of Warrican, they were all dominated. Even though they lost, their batsmen still manage to get a par score which shows they don’t have so much to worry about in that department.
It’s hard to pin point where the Strikers are going wrong. They have tried different things to no avail. They basically have nothing to lose now so maybe with that freedom they might manage to eek out a win for their loyal fans. Sealroy Williams has looked in good nick in the past few games and have offered some hope for the team. Is a big one around the corner for him? The bowlers weren’t given anything to bowl at by the batsmen but they did put on a decent showing in their past few games.
