Match Preview: Grenadines Divers vs La Soufriere Hikers – 20th Match VPL 4
Divers are in a desperate situation in that they need at least one win from their next two matches to stand a chance of making it into the playoffs. Hikers are in a safer position, albeit not yet into the playoffs.
In The Spotlight
Divers are struggling in the powerplay with facing a lot of dot balls which are basically haunting them at the end of the day. They tried a different opening pair to try and rectify that problem but it still happened. However, they should back the pair of Shem Browne and Asif Hooper as they have been quite successful as a partnership at the top – it just didn’t work out in their last game. Roland Cato did come in at number 3 and played a good hand. Asif Hooper and Geron Wyllie are bowling very good overs of spin and add Wesrick Strough to the list and they have a bowling attack that can work some magic. They just need the top order batsmen to give them something to work with.
Hikers are peaking at the right time – they have won four games on the trot. Dillon Douglas, possibly the best batsman across all editions of the VPL is looking back at his best. When he is at his best, Hikers become such a ruthless opposition. They will be hoping that some of their other batsmen can strike up some red hot form to make them even more dangerous. Rayan Williams continues to be exceptional with the ball. Kavem Hodge has been outstanding economically and bowling with a lot of smart to opposition big hitters at the top. Hikers have a formula for success and it’s starting to come together.
