Match Preview: Botanical Gardens Rangers vs Dark View Explorers – 13th Match VPL 4
Dark View Explorers started the tournament in emphatic fashion but it has been a struggle since. They have lost three on the trot and seeing that half of the games have passed, they know that time is no longer on their hands – a win is badly needed. Rangers are currently 2nd in the points standing and are playing good Cricket. They are a side full of experienced Cricketers and the odds would be in their favour for this match. However, don’t underestimate a wounded opposition.
In The Spotlight
Dark View Explorers star studded batting has failed them in their last three games. Not surprising, they have lost those three games. The equation looks simple for them – if the batters do not post a good score, they are more than likely going to lose. Athanaze and Pierre have scored some runs but the pair doesn’t seem to be moving the partnership at a fast pace. A re-jig of the batting order maybe on the cards tomorrow. Can we see the likes of Dean Browne being promoted to give more impetus? Would Shaman Hooper get a chance at opening? Credit to Explorers though for realising they were a batsman heavy by making the change in their 4th game. It didn’t pay off but you couldn’t fault the thinking. It shows that they are reassessing and willing to do things differently to find the winning formula.
Rangers seems to have most bases covered thanks to the vast amount of experience in their line up. They realised from the game they lost, that they were having trouble with playing the spin. Fletcher decided that he would take it easy against the spinners and stay there to the end – it nearly back fired but at the end of the day, he won it for them and that’s what counts. Wayne Harper looks to be in terrific nick and have played some very good innings so far. Rangers bowling have been good so far but they would be hoping that some of their bowlers would be back to their best to strengthen their chances of going all the way.
