Fort Charlotte Strikers vs Grenadines Divers Match Report – 11th Match VPL 4
Divers won the toss and chose to bowl.
Asif Hooper opened the bowling and bowled a really decent first over, only allowing one single from the over. Abraham as usual, shared the new ball with Hooper. His first delivery was swept for four by Bascombe but he didn’t allow any other freebies and continued the restriction on the Strikers. Hooper was back for the 3rd over and bowled really well, only conceding a single and finishing his two overs for only two runs. Abraham struck gold in the final over of the powerplay, removing Hackshaw and Bascombe, the Strikers struggling terribly on 12/2 after 4 overs.
Strikers got into more trouble when Shem Browne made a brilliant direct hit from covers to run out the dangerous Joshua James. Part timer Vedol Edwards was brought on and took the wicket of Thurton. He was however treated with disdain as Sealroy Williams took him for four sixes in the over, couple of which went out of the ground. Sealroy continued his six hitting spree as he drove Joseph over long off for six. Joseph adjusted his length to shorter and got Sealroy. It was back to being a struggle for the Strikers as they could only muster 74/8 from their 10 overs. Sealroy Williams top scored with 31 from 9 deliveries, hitting 5 sixes. Kevin Abraham took 2 for 9 while Joseph took 2 for 17.
Strikers, desperate for a miracle wasn’t finding it easy. Hooper negated any threat that Jordan may have been wanting to pose to the Divers. Divers took 15 runs from the 3rd over and carried the score to 25/0. It looked like it would have been a walk in the park from there on in, but instead, the Divers managed to struggle through the innings, being 42/1 after 6 overs. Shem Browne played a cameo, scoring 20 from 9 deliveries, hitting 3 sixes to push the game back in the way of the Divers. Wesrick Strough finished the game during the penultimate over with a six over mid wicket. Asif Hooper top scored with 22 from 23 deliveries, hitting 2 fours.
