Match Preview – 9th Match VPL 4: La Soufriere Hikers vs Dark View Explorers
Both teams have already registered their first win, but whoever wins this game will collect their 2nd win of the tournament. A lot is at stake in this match.
In The Spotlight
Hikers would have the momentum going into this match as they’re coming off their first win. They still have a lot to be worried about, with their main batsmen in Desron maloney and Dillon Douglas not finding runs at the moment. Kavem Hodge played wonderful in their first win and they will be looking for him to continue his fine form to guide the team’s batting. Hikers bowling is still a major cause of concern as their spinners apart from Hodge are not delivering. Rayan Williams offered a breathe of fresh air in his first match, bowling hard lengths and being rewarded with 4 wickets. They will be looking for him to deliver yet again to look for their 2nd win on the trot.
Explorers have a powerhouse batting line up on paper, so much so that it was quite disappointing that they didn’t cross the 100 run mark in the last game for the start they had. With the sort of leadership team that the Explorers have, you can be guaranteed they won’t make that mistake twice. A bigger cause for concern would however be how easy their opponent was able to chase down their target in their last match. If Martin doesn’t bowl an excellent spell, they will struggle to defend moderate totals, which puts even more emphasis and pressure on their batting line up.
