Match Preview – 10th Match VPL 4: Fort Charlotte Strikers vs Botanical Gardens Rangers
It’s clear as day and night who is under more pressure in this game. Strikers is the only team not to register a win as yet in the competition. Rangers already have two in the bag but suffered their first defeat in match 8. Another loss can sink their hopes a little so they’d be bouyant to be back to their best.
In The Spotlight
Strikers so far has shown great reliance on Bascombe and James to do the bulk of their run scoring. Surely, they need others to step up and to step up big. Sealroy Williams has class but hasn’t delivered for his team in a while and time may not be on his side to maintain a position at the top if he doesn’t produce the goods. Strikers, despite having a reasonably balanced bowling attack, have conceded over 110 runs in both of their games. Their first hurdle in bagging their first win will be to be a better bowling unit.
Rangers are a star studded team, boasting of two West Indian players, three current regional first class Cricketers and a Canadian U19 cricketer. They know all eyes are on them to win this competition and would be under some pressure for the way they lost their first match. Champions do learn from their mistakes and this match is the perfect opportunity to showcase why they are possibly the tournament’s favourite.
