Match Preview – 7th Match VPL 4: Grenadines Divers vs La Soufriere Hikers

March 21, 2022

Grenadines Divers got their first win of the tournament while the Hikers are winless so far. Surely, with this being their 3rd game, Hikers will be desperate to bag their first win.

In The Spotlight

Desron Maloney, Hikers captain, is a fan favourite. He is known locally to be one of the most dominant batters and a very good hitter of the Cricket ball. His two outings so far hasn’t been as productive as you would expect. The team need him to perform to have a turn around. A lot is usually left to Dillon Douglas to do, and if there is someone else in form and scoring runs, it will be all the more easier for the Hikers. Hikers, who relies heavily on spin and which worked wonderfully for them in other editions, have not proven to be that effective so far. They might have a rethink of strategy tomorrow.

Divers, having registered an early win will want to continue in that fashion. Wesrick Strough continues to be exceptional in VPL, proving to be one of the best death bowlers around. Divers however will be more concerned about their batting. They haven’t got the kind of contribution that they would have hoped for from their top order. You reckon with the calibre of players they have in their top order, it’s only a matter of time before they string together some good performances.
