March 19, 2022

Rangers won the toss and chose to field.

Larry Edwards bowled the first ball of the tournament, which was also his first delivery in VPL, which was cut for four by Shallow. The proceeding deliveries was mostly a mixture of boundaries or excessive dot balls. Divers were 21/0 after 3 overs, having too many dot balls. Razine Browne bowled the final over of the powerplay and was initially treated harshly, conceding 15 runs, before taking the wicket of Cato. Divers finished the powerplay at 36/1 – a good platform to build on.

Keron Cottoy was brilliant with the ball for Rangers, bowling the 7th and 9th over, conceding 10 runs in total and took the key wickets of Asif Hooper and Shem Browne. The 8th and 10th over was expensive, conceding 31 runs and allowing Divers to get a respectable 89/4. Hiram Shallow top scored with 30 from 28 deliveries.

Asif Hooper, as customary, took the new ball for the Divers. He struck immediately, taking the wicket of Salvan Browne for a golden duck. Divers conceded 18 runs from their 2nd over – Wayne Harper played a stylish flick for 6 off the seam bowling of Bracie Browne while Andre Fletcher chipped down the ground twice and swatted through the off side for boundaries. Asif Hooper stemmed the flow of runs, completing his quota of overs for only 6 runs.

Andre Fletcher took couple boundaries from the 5th over, and they were timely as the rain arrived. The par score after 5 overs was 41 runs, and Rangers were just ahead and walked away as winners by 9 wickets.
