Match Report – Qualifier 2: Dark View Explorers vs Fort Charlotte Strikers

Explorers won the toss and chose to field.

Miles Bascombe didn’t waste time in getting going and took 3 fours and 1 huge six from the 2nd over bowled by Shamon Hooper. Deron Greaves returned for the 3rd over and bowled a good one and completed his quota of two overs for 11 runs. Hackshaw pulled for six off the first ball of the 3rd over bowled by Rayan Williams. Williams struck back and had form batsman Bascombe caught at mid wicket, dealing a big blow to the Strikers. Strikers had a good platform laid by the openers, being 40-1 at the end of the powerplay.

Sealroy drove over long off for six on his 2nd delivery. Along with Hackshaw, they were getting the boundary and rotating the strike brilliantly to push Strikers to 74/1 after 7 overs, setting up the game for a big finish. Dean Browne dismissed Hackshaw to halt the moment for a few deliveries but Sealroy Williams finished the over with a maximum over mid wicket. Dean Browne bowled an excellent last over, conceding 5 runs to limit Strikers to 101/4 from their 10 overs. Miles Bascombe & Cosmus Hackshaw both scored 27 runs while Sealroy Williams scored 25. Rayan Williams was the pick of the bowlers taking 2-21 from his 2 overs.

Deron Greaves smashed Fredericks for four off the first delivery of the chase but nicked a big swing off the next delivery to be dismissed. Explorers took 21 runs from the next two overs but Rasheed Fredericks came back for the final over of the powerplay and kept it to five singles – Explorers 32/1 at the end of it.

The 5th over was expensive, going for 16 runs with Romano Pierre pulling two sixes. Lavia and Small kept overs six and seven to 8 run a piece, leaving 38 runs required from 18 deliveries. The 8th over was expensive, going for 18 runs and leaving 20 runs from 12 deliveries. The game was basically done and dusted in the 9th over as Romano Pierre smashed two big hits over mid wicket to take the over for 19 runs, leaving 1 run required for victory. Lindon James as captain, fittingly guided his troops to the final with a single off the first delivery of the final over to make them first time finalists. Romano Pierre was the star of the show with 65 not out from 30 deliveries, hitting 1 four and 7 sixes.
