Match Preview – Eliminator 1: Fort Charlotte Strikers vs Salt Pond Breakers

May 28, 2021

This is the business end of the tournament for both teams and there is too much at stake – whoever losses, packs their bag and exit the tournament. The other will fight to get another chance to audition for the finals.

In The Spotlight

This is new territory for Strikers as it’s the first time that they have qualified for the playoffs. They are lead by the vastly experienced Miles Bascombe, who will try to keep the team calm under pressure. Strikers have been batting and bowling excellently in their past games. Strikers would love to get a decent score as they will be more confident in their bowling attack than the batting line up based on past history.

It’s familiar territory for Salt Pond Breakers, being in the playoffs. What’s not familiar is that they’ve finished outside of the top two for the first time. Simply put, this is the game that counts and they’ll need their big guns to step up and guide them closer to the finals. A lot will rest on the performances of Sunil Ambris and Delorn Johnson. Denson Hoyte has been doing a wonderful job for the bowling unit. There has been promising innings from Oziko Williams and Rickford Walker. Seon Sween showed form at the start of the tournament but has lost his way since. Breakers have the quality, it’s all about execution on the day.
