Match Report – 23rd Match: Botanical Gardens Rangers vs Salt Pond Breakers

May 26, 2021

Breakers won the toss and hose to bat.

Kimali Williams bowled the first over and Ambris took a liking to him – whipping off stump deliveries through the leg side for four and six then pulling and a misfield gifting four runs. Zimron Providence shared the new ball and bowled a tremendous over conceding two runs, on what was a docile looking wicket loaded with runs. Ambris was hitting boundaries at will, taking 3 fours and 1 six off the 3rd over. Kesrick Williams introduced himself into the attack and had Ozico Williams bowled with his 2nd delivery. Andrew Thomas was the new man to the crease and he pulled his 2nd delivery for six, to propel Breakers to 44-1 at the end of the powerplay.

Donald Delpesche had Thomas bowled in the 5th over and WInston Samuel bowled an amazing 6th over of the innings, conceding just two runs and holding Breakers back to 53-2 after 6 overs. Zimron Providence had Walker dismissed, caught wonderfully by Kesrick Williams on the long on boundary. Ambris pulled Providence for a six to inch closer towards a half century. Ambris’ half century came in the 8th over, the only batsman for the Breakers looking in any sort of fluency.

Breakers were 73-4 after 8 overs and needed a good finish, bearing in mind that the same opposition chased 108 a few days ago. Kesrick Williams was very impressive taking three wickets in the penultimate over of the innings. Breakers got 12 runs from the last over and pushed their score to 92, just about a par total on the surface. Ambris top scored with 64 from 34 deliveries, hitting 6 fours and 5 sixes. Kesrick Williams was the pick of the bowlers with 4-14 from his 2 overs.

Jevon Samuel struck in his first over, bowling Jaheil Walters. Rangers while picking up the boundary per over, had an average powerplay, being 27-2. The innings never got going, and the loss was inevitable after the half way stage. Rangers could only get 65 and lost by 27 runs.

Salt Pond Breakers 92/7 (10 overs)
Botanical Gardens Rangers 65/5 (10 overs)
