Match Report – 21st Match: Dark View Explorers vs Grenadines Divers
Divers won the toss and chose to bat first, in a must win game if they want to keep their hopes alive of making it to the playoffs while waiting on the outcome of the other matches remaining.
Divers looked deflated and couldn’t get any momentum to work with. They lost Nedd & Abraham to consecutive deliveries in the 2nd over. They finished their powerplay on 15-2. Their best over of the innings came during the 5th over, which conceded 19 runs. It was a short lived momentum as they lost Asif Hooper and Shem Browne in consecutive deliveries. Divers could only get to 68-6 from their 10 overs. Shem Browne top scored with 24 from 17 deliveries, hitting 1 four and 2 sixes.
Dark View Explorers were in no rush to get the win. Deron Greaves used it as an opportunity to get some runs under his belt. He was aggressive and got 48 from 28 deliveries, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes. Romano Pierre, not scoring much in the last few games, took it easy and used the time to occupy the crease to get his groove back for the playoffs. He remained not out on 15 from 26 deliveries.
Explorers won with 4 balls to spare and 9 wickets in tact. Divers will now wait hoping that Salt Pond Breakers can lose their next two games handsomely in order for them to stand a chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
