Match Preview – 22nd Match: La Soufriere Hikers vs Salt Pond Breakers
Finalist from the first two editions are set to meet yet again. Hikers have been getting the better of Breakers in their last couple outings. This time, the pressure is on Breakers, as they have not secured a spot in the playoffs as yet.
In The Spotlight
Hikers started on fire and was looking like the team to beat. They however have hit a small stumbling block, where they have been humbled in the past two matches. They have been shell shocked when Maloney and Douglas are dismissed cheaply. The positive they have is that Salvan Browne seems to be returning to some form. Othneil Lewis has been hitting some reliable lusty blows, which has helped to save face for the Hikers in their past few games. Their bowling is starting to take a pounding and it will now become an area of concern for them. It’s the business end of the tournament, so they’ll have to sharpen up on the weak areas quickly.
Breakers will be going into this match under pressure, as another loss can possibly jeopardise their spot in the playoff. Rickford Walker is finding form and may find himself promoted up the order, where he is naturally accustomed to batting. Sunil Ambris hasn’t looked quite as fluent as in past editions, but with quality players, a slice of luck if all they need to turn their fortunes around. If he fires, they are a totally different outfit. Denson Hoyte and Jevon Samuels are leading the bowling well while the others are not as consistent. They along with the batting have to buck up if Breakers are going to look to add a 2nd trophy to their cupboard.
