Match Report – 20th Match: Fort Charlotte Strikers vs Grenadines Divers

Strikers won the toss and chose to bat.

As per the norm by now, Strikers were getting a boundary every over but they lost Hackshaw and Sealroy Williams in the powerplay. Divers not allowing Strikers to get away, keeping them at 29-2 after 4 overs. Strikers started to up the rate and got 26 runs from the following 2 overs, setting themselves up for a big finish.

Gidron Pope started to cash in as well, taking Bracie Browne for two fours then a big pull shot over square for six, taking Strikers to 72-2 after 7 overs. Bascombe went into overdrive and started hitting sixes at will, hitting some humungous ones down the ground. Gidron Pope was also in explosive touch and found the boundaries regularly. Bascombe remained not out on 69 from 29 deliveries, hitting 3 fours and 8 sixes. Pope was retire hurt on 37 from 17 deliveries, hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Strikers posted a mammoth 128-2 from their 10 overs.

With a mountain to climb, Divers started well scoring 23 runs from the first two overs, but lost the wicket of Nedd. Fredericks had Shem Browne bowled in the 3rd over. Divers finished the powerplay on 38-2, well below the asking rate. Wyllie had Asif Hooper caught on the boundary off the final delivery of the 6th over to further dent the Divers hopes of a win. Small bowled the 7th over and only conceded 6 runs, his two overs only costing 16 runs. With 65 required from 18 deliveries, it was too much for Divers to get.

Divers only got to 89-5, losing by 39 runs.
