Match Report – 19th Match: Salt Pond Breakers vs Botanical Gardens Rangers

Breakers won the toss and choose to bat.

Kimali Williams had Oziko Williams caught on the mid wicket boundary in the first over. Zimron Providence was very untidy in the 2nd over, bowling 11 wides and helping Breakers to get 15 from the over. Kimali Williams and Kesrick Williams bowled well to restrict the 3rd and 4th over to only 13 runs total, Breakers finishing the powerplay on 34-1.

Breaker were being served a hit me ball per over and they capitalised. Rangers didn’t help their cause continuing to gift easy runs through wides. Breakers rocketed to 69-1 after 7 overs. Winston Samuel was back and broke the heart of the Breakers line up, having Ambris, Joseph & Sween in four deliveries, one which was a stumping off a wide delivery. Rickford Walker marched to the crease and struck beautifully for four right away. The final over conceded 20 runs, of which 13 where extras. Breakers finished on 107-3 from their 10 overs. Ambris top scored with 35 from 27 deliveries, hitting 3 fours and 1 six. Winston Samuels was the pick of the bowlers with 3-20 from his 2 overs. Extras totalled 36!

Rangers had a good start, moving along to 29-0 after 3 overs, one of their better starts. They lost both openers in the final over of the powerplay, Rangers had an excellent 6th over, taking 15 from it and lifting their score to 56-2. They required 52 from the final four overs. Kesrick Williams slapped a six then cut for four over third man in the 8th over to bring down the equation to 30 runs from 12 deliveries. The penultimate over brought 14 runs, leaving 16 required for victory off the final over with Wayne Harper and Donald Delpesche at the crease.

Delpesche smashed through the offside for four and Harper swung big over mid wicket off the 4th delivery, leaving 2 for victory from 2 deliveries. A leg bye was scrambled during the 5th delivery. Another leg bye was ran off the final delivery, and Rangers registering their first win of the competition in emphatic style. Wayne Harper top scored with 32 not out from 21 deliveries, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. Kesrick Williams (23) and Donald Delpesche (13 *) made significant contributions as well.
