Match Preview – 16th Match: Grenadines Divers vs La Soufriere Hikers
Hikers are top of the table and they need only one more win to secure their spot in the playoffs. For Divers, they are not out the woods and have everything to play for still. While not a must win game as yet, they will feel better know it’s one less hurdle ahead.
In The Spotlight
Divers simply put needs to do one of the following; either score a big total or remove the pair of Maloney & Douglas quite early. Hikers are playing such excellent cricket at the moment that it will take a helluva performance to overcome them. Do Divers have the potential and personnel to do it? Ofcourse they do, they just need to fire up their cylinders and put on a show we know that they are capable of. Shem Browne and Kadir Nedd has shown some form, but there hasn’t been much contribution otherwise from the other batsmen.
Hikers, while winning, still have some hiccups. They have been motoring along at times then the loss of Douglas & Maloney usually stem their flow. Salvan Browne is badly out of form, and they’re even more dangerous when he scores. They will continue to back him to come good, as when he does, he usually destroys attacks! The bowling on paper seemed less impressive than what they had last edition, but they are doing a wonderful job – a department which isn’t such a big worry for them at the moment. Beniton Stapleton has been leading the attack well, especially bowling through the middle overs.
