Match Report – 8th Match: Fort Charlotte Strikers vs Dark View Explorers
Explorers won the toss and chose to bat first.
Openers Greaves & Pierre played the first over with caution, only taking 4 runs from the over bowled by Fredericks. Greaves stroked Sealroy for back to back boundaries and Pierre joined the party by hitting the last ball of the over for six. Greaves stroked another four and Pierre drove for six. Greaves was then removed trying to pull for a maximum but could only top edge for short third man to run around and catch. Ray Jordan was brought on to finish the powerplay overs and bowled a good one, only conceding 8 runs. Explorers finishing the powerplay on 40-1.
Explorers were continuing to get the boundaries and were on 69-2 after 7 overs. When Romano Pierre was dismissed in the 8th over, the Strikers applied the pressure and pegged back the scoring. Strikers only conceded one boundary in the final 3 overs bowled, restricting Explorers to 95/5 after their 10 overs. A par total you’d say on the surface that’s being played on. Romano Pierre top scored with 41 from 22 deliveries, continuing his impressive form, hitting 1 four and 4 sixes.
Strikers in their chase, finished the powerplay steady on 29-0. While they got a boundary every over, there was a lot of dot balls. Luke Wilson broke the partnership when Lewis advance down the track and missed completely to be bowled. Wilson’s over only conceded 2 runs, now leaving 66 runs required from 30 deliveries.
Luke Wilson delivered a deadly blow when bowled the 7th over and accounted for Sealroy Williams & Miles Bascombe, and only conceding 3 runs. The Strikers now in a deep hole, requiring 50 runs from 3 overs. Strikers scored to slowly at the top and left too much to do to the backend. Requiring 42 from 18 balls, they got 18 runs from the penultimate over, getting boundaries from both Gidron Pope & Cosmus Hackshaw, who were also dismissed in the over, having no choice but to try and hit everything out the park with the required run rate.
Rayan Williams delivered the final over, and bowled it well to only concede 4 runs and giving Explorers the win by 19 runs. Miles Bascombe top scored with 30 from 24 balls while Luke Wilson was the star with the ball, taking 3-3 from his 2 overs.
