Match Preview – 10th Match: Botanical Gardens Rangers vs Grenadines Divers

May 18, 2021

Both Rangers and Divers are winless at the moment, so one team will be jubilant to register their first win of the tournament while the other will continue to have a miserable tournament to date.

In The Spotlight

Rangers would be pleased somewhat with their batting display in the last match, after being humiliated with the bat in their first two matches. Their bowling didn’t do all that bad, but when you are up against a team like Hikers, your bowling usually have to be at it’s very best to stop them. They have enough consolation to take from their last game to head into this match with a positive frame of mind. They’ll be worried about always losing one of the openers very cheaply and early but their squad has been depleted and it looks to be a continued struggle.

Grenadines Divers seems be getting in a groove with their batting and they may soon register their first win. With Nedd opening the batting, the team looks a more balanced batting unit with the reliable Asif Hooper to take control of the middle overs. Some questionable decisions were made in the field in regards to bowling choices but a cricketing brain such as Asif won’t make those mistakes twice in a row.

Players To Watch

Wayne Harper (Rangers) – Starting to show back some of the talent that he possessed as one of the top U19 players in the country in his day. He’s an attractive batsman when in form and fans would love to see that, as much as the Rangers camp.

Asif Hooper (Divers) – Has been one of the standout performers across all VPL editions, with bat and ball. While he has bowled well so far, he hasn’t lit up with the bat as yet. Look out for the Hooper special!
