Match Report – 4th Match: Salt Pond Breakers vs Grenadines Divers
Salt Pond Breakers won the toss and chose to bat first. Divers were immediately in control as the ever steady left arm spin of captain Asif Hooper got the break through, bowling Walker off the final delivery of the first over. Kevin Abraham’s off spin got the big wicket of Sunil Ambris, caught at long on, Divers in total control.
It was a pedestrian pace for the next few overs, as Breakers laboured their way to 17-2 after 5 overs. Richie Richards had Tijorn Pope bowled during the 6th over, the score motoring along to 24-3. The Breakers batsmen were trying hard to break the shackles, swinging their arms as hard as they can but there was a lot of mishits along the way. Seon Sween connected and deposited a six over long on in the 8th over, which gave them momentum for a push in the last two overs. Breakers got the late push and ended their innings on 67/4.
Divers had a horrible start; they lost Asif Hooper & Kadir Nedd on back to back deliveries in the 2nd over with only 3 runs on the board – the delightful bowler was captain Sunil Ambris. Within the blink of an eye, Divers found themselves at 12-5. Tilran Harry played a good knock, giving the Divers a bit of hope in overhauling the total. Delorn Johnson got rid of him in the 9th over and basically sealed victory for the Breakers. Divers finished 11 runs short of their target. Tilron Harry top scored with 29 from 18 deliveries. Sunil Ambris was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-4 from his 2 overs.
