Match Preview – 5th Match: La Soufriere Hikers vs Grenadines Divers
With all teams having played at least one game so far in VPL 3.0, La Soufriere Hikers look like the team to beat this edition. Grenadines Divers lost their first match from a good position and they will want to get on the points table early in the show.
In The Spotlight
Grenadines Divers batting let them down tremendously in their first outing, being 12-5 at one stage. It’s usually a three man show with the bat. Fortunately, Tilron Harry made a good 29 from 20 balls and the Divers now have someone else that they can rely on. A rethink of the batting order maybe on the cards to ensure some stability after the opening pair. Divers bowling has hardly ever been a spot of bother for them, and they did bowl well for most of the game, except to the death where they let the game start to build back momentum in the opposition’s favour.
Things are happening for the Hikers and they are enjoying the glory and spotlight and it will take a lot to step them. Although their batting is their strong point, they have quite a competent bowling attack, having both spin and pace bowling options to call upon – they do look like the team to beat this edition. Look out for Salvan Browne to fire tomorrow, he loves playing against any opposition that has his brothers in their lineup!
