Match Preview – 4th Match: Salt Pond Breakers vs Grenadines Divers
Salt Pond Breakers, the team with the highest win ratio in VPL is set for their first match of the 3rd edition. They will be up against the Divers, a team notorious for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
In The Spotlight
Salt Pond Breakers is heavily reliant on Sunil Ambris. Breakers have acquired 2 players new to VPL, but personnel you don’t want to take your eyes off of. Samuels is one of the best left arm finger spinners in the country, and Sheldon Hooper, a dynamic opening batsman – they both will be out with a point to prove. Breakers have lost two of their dynamic power hitters from VPL 2.0, so they’ll be hoping their new hires can fill the void.
Grenadines Divers is a team that more often than not, gives you a good batting powerplay, usually led by the captain Asif Hooper and Shem Browne, see ball hit ball kinda player. A problem for them, is that usually the top 3 does the bulk of the scoring, and they usually falter after that. This could be the perfect opportunity for new recruit, TIlron Harry, who is more than capable of playing dynamic innings as he can muscle the ball a long way.
