Match Preview: Eliminator 2 – Botanical Garden Rangers vs La Soufriere Hikers
Cricket is a funny game. Rangers were flying high after 6 games, going unbeaten, but have found themselves on the losing end their last three matches. The Hikers on the other hand had a very bad first half of the tournament but are regaining form as they are back to winning games convincingly, which they have done for the last two games, winning both by 9 wickets.
In The Spotlight
Rangers will need their experience studded batting line up to get back to scoring big totals to give them the confidence to bowl within themselves. The mid to lower order has been left to do the bulk of the scoring for the past few games, and while they have gotten them to respectable scores, they have not been challenging scores by any means. In a do or die situation, they must fire else they’ll find themselves eliminated from the finals.
The Hikers batting lineup is regaining it’s touch and the Rangers bowlers must be worrying as Salvan Browne and especially captain Maloney, are looking back in touch. Dillon Douglas has been very consistent this season. One of the major concern for the Hikers is that outside of Browne, Maloney & Douglas, the others have struggled to add any decent scores to help the team’s chances. Hikers bowling strategy of using predominantly spin and getting the seam bowling overs from Beniton Stapleton has been effective in their last few matches and they’ll more than certain want to repeat that strategy.
