Explorers started the tournament badly, losing their first three games, the bowlers travelling to all parts of the ground. They changed their bowling strategy, utilising strictly spin in the powerplay and left their pacers for the death and it paid off handsomely, winning them 4 on the trot and giving them the 3rd place spot in the group stages. They have been the strongest batting team in the tournament, accumulating six 100+ scores. The four games they won, they didn’t concede 100 runs in an innings. However, there will be some concerns in the camp in the over reliance on Bascombe and Greaves to do the bulk of the run scoring as was evident in their last game when they could only get 69 chasing 109.

The Hikers are having an up and down season. Their only consistent batsman has been Douglas, but whenever Maloney has come to the party, the Hikers has won handsomely. It’s evident that his presence drives the team and they’ll be hoping for the best from him. Their bowling has been improving and it has to be on it’s mark against the Explorers who love scoring above par totals.
