Match Report: 22nd Match – Salt Pond Breakers vs La Soufriere Hikers

November 17, 2020

Hikers won the toss and choose to bat, with their concern being the bowling.

Hikers was on the mark early with exceptional bowling from the spin pair of Hodge & Lewis – they combined to only concede 23 runs from the powerplay overs. Ambris however was still in, and he started to cash in, taking 12 runs from the 5th over. He went in over drive from the 7th over and muscled his way to an unbeaten 72 from 34 deliveries, hitting 8 fours and 4 sixes. The last 4 overs from the Hikers conceded 61 runs, the Breakers continuing their strong hold over the Hikers and powering their way to 103/6.

Hikers started the chase bad, and had both Maloney & Douglas removed by the hostile bowling of Ryan John. The Hikers brought themselves back in the hunt by taking 13 and 16 runs respectively from the 4th and 5th over. Ambris brought himself into the attack and immediately removed Kavem Hodge for 18, who was starting to look dangerous.  The momentum was cut as Ambris’ two overs only conceded 8 runs. Hikers needed 39 runs to win from the final two overs but could only get 21 runs, falling short by 17 runs. It means that the Hikers will need to win their next match to qualify.

Salt Pond Breakers 103/6 (10 overs)
La Soufriere Hikers 86/4 (10 overs)
