Rangers won the toss and choose to bat first.
Ray Jordan started well as he usually does. Shallow got a six swinging a full delivery and got a thick edge flying all the way over thirdman. Fredericks and Lavia bowled ok for the 2nd and 3rd over respectively but boundaries were conceded. The final over of the powerplay went for 14, the Rangers moving along at 38-0. Lavia bowled a good 6th over to finish his spell with 1/14 and keeping the Rangers to 55. Rangers exploded to the backend and 56 runs came from the final 4 overs. Shallow 34, Stewart 25 and Cottoy 29 were the main contributors, getting Rangers a score they would be happy with.
Strikers tried a different batting lineup, Alex Samuel & Sealroy Williams to open the batting. Strikers were struggling being 6-1 after 2 overs. Cato got a free hit in the 3rd over from Providence and capitalised from there. He powered his way to 39 from 17 deliveries hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes, finally getting to the party. Sealroy Williams, continuing his form from his previous innings, got to 33 from 20 balls, hitting 1 four and 3 sixes. When he departed, the Strikers needed 21 runs from 14 deliveries. Gidron Pope, showing his best form of the tournament, smacked 2 fours and 1 six to push Strikers closer for their first victory. Kirton Lavia, played effortlessly to get 13 from 4 deliveries, hitting 1 four and his only six, finishing the game with one over to spare. Striker’s showing their true potential a little to late.
