Match Report: 18th Match – Fort Charlotte Strikers vs Dark View Explorers
Strikers won the toss and decided to bowl first under overcast skies.
Ray Jordan took the new ball and bowled a beautiful over, having Miles Bascombe beaten and only conceding 5 runs. Rasheed Fredericks bowled the 2nd over and conceding 11 runs, a six muscled down the ground by Bascombe and Greaves swinging over the leg side for four. Nigel Small bowled well in the 3rd over and Bascombe sensing it, charged during the 5th delivery and squeezed a four through covers. Fredericks bowled the final over of the powerplay. Bascombe swung another six over mid wicket but the over otherwise was kept tight, Strikers keeping the score to 34/0 and would be happy with their bowling so far.
With Bascombe in, a large target was on the cards and he started to cash in even more as he pumped Nigel Small for 4 sixes in the 7th over. The 8th over was bowled by Cato and conceded 9 runs. Ray Jordan bowled the penultimate over and only conceded 4 runs, having remarkable figures of 2 overs for 8 runs. The final over was bowled by Cato and Bascombe smashed a four and Dean Browne finished the assault by hitting two sixes off the final deliveries, putting up a big score of 117/2. Bascombe remained not out on 66 from 37 deliveries, hitting 3 fours and 6 sixes.
Strikers got off to another shaky start in their chase, being 21/3 by the time the powerplay was finished. Commeth the hour, commeth the man and Sealroy Williams nearly stole the show, imposing dominance and smartly hitting his was to 59 from 30 balls, hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes. At one point the target was 87 from 30 deliveries and was brought down to 34 from 12 deliveries. Sealron Williams, twin brother of Sealroy bowled the penultimate over and only conceded 8 runs and put the game out of reach of the Strikers. Dean Browne delivered the final over and had three wickets from his final 4 deliveries, Strikers only getting 95 in the end, their best batting exploit of the tournament but still wasn’t nearly enough to give them their first win.
