Match Report: 17th Match – Botanical Garden Rangers vs Salt Pond Breakers

On a rain truncated day, the Breakers won the toss and choose to bowl first in an 8 over affair.

Delorn Johnson bowled a good first over, only conceding 5 runs and Emmanuel Stewart got run out for a 3rd time, and Hyron Shallow being involved yet again. Ryan John bowled the second over which conceded 14 runs, Shallow cutting some trademark boundaries. Javid Harry & Sunil Ambris combined well to only concede 12 runs – Rangers 31-1.

Cottoy then launched into Harry, hitting 2 sixes and 1 four all down the ground to send Rangers flying to 51-1 after 5 overs. There was a comedy of errors as Cottoy was dismissed by Layne then Donwell Hector & Hyron Shallow was run out on back to back deliveries leaving the rangers on 54-4. Captain Dember made an assault in the 7th over and smashed 3 sixes off Johnson, the over conceding 22 runs. The final over delivered by Layne went for 11, Dember hitting another 6 to power his side to 87/6 from their 8 overs.

Rain came as soon as the innings was finished and caused the match to be further reduced to 4 overs, the Breakers requiring 49 runs for victory.

Ambris was up to face against speedster Kimali Williams and Ambris was dominating, hitting 6.4.4 and also finished the over with another boundary – Ryan John, his opening partner was bowled by Williams during the exciting first over. Delpesche bowled an excellent 2nd over, having Ricavo Williams outfoxed and bowled by the slowest of slower deliveries. The over only conceding 8 runs. Kenneth Dember bowled himself for the penultimate over and only conceded 9 runs – 36/2 and 13 required from the final over. Bibby bowled the over and he bowled most of the deliveries full and it paid off as the batsmen couldn’t get under the deliveries. Breakers could only get 10 from the over and lost by 2 runs, their first loss of the tournament.
