
Match Report: 10th Match – La Soufriere Hikers vs Dark View Explorers
La Soufriere Hikers won the toss and chose to bat.
Deron Greaves bowled the first over and Salvan Browne took advantage, pummelling 18 runs off the over, hitting 3 fours and 1 six. Shamon Hooper bowled a good 2nd over, conceding no boundaries. Captain James showed faith and Greaves and brought him back and he got the wicket of Salvan Browne, after he pulled him over mid wicket for six. Dillon Douglas, the new man in, swung one to square leg for four then slogged a no ball over mid wicket and out the ground.
Hooper was back for the final powerplay over and started well, bowling three consecutive dot balls but Douglas couldn’t stand it any longer then unleashed 4, 6, 4 taking the score to 57/1. Douglas wasn’t done, he wacked Dean Browne over long on for a six then advanced and sent one flying out the ground, the shot of the tournament and taking the score to 70/1 after 5, Hikers poised for a big score.
Sealron Williams, Explorers strike bowler put a dent in the Hikers batting as he accounted for Hodge & Douglas, an over only costing 3 runs – 73/3 after 6. Shaquille Browne, another of the Explorers’ bowler who has been having a good season, delivered a good 7th over, only conceding nine and taking the wicket of Stapleton. Sealron Williams bowled another top over, another 3 runs and a wicket, the Hikers losing their way and being 85/5 after being 70/1 in 5 overs.
Shaquille Browne back to continue the good bowling display of the Explorers, got three wickets in the over to further rock the Hikers and putting himself as the tournament’s leading wicket taker. The Hikers finished their innings on 98/9, finishing well below of what they would have expected.
Kavem Hodge removed Bascombe on the 2nd delivery, a good start for the Hikers. Deron Greaves pulled Lewis for six and Shamon Hooper joined in hitting two cut shots for boundaries. Hikers went on to control the game with Strough returning figures of 2/17 and had Explorers at 46/3 after 6 overs. Dean Browne smashed a big six and got two more boundaries off the 7th over, the over conceding 17 runs. The 8th over went for 13, leaving 23 runs to win from 12 deliveries. Explorers didn’t need that much as 28 runs was taken off the penultimate over and sealing victory with 8 balls to spare and registering the Explorers first win of the season.
