May 29, 2020

Grenadines Divers won the toss and choose to bat. Kenneth Dember bowled a stellar 2nd over, having Romano Pierre and Alex Samuel caught and bowled. Romario Bibby in the final powerplay over got the wicket of captain, Asif Hooper to leave the Divers at 26/3.

Kimali Williams and Nigel Small came on and didn’t let up, bowling well on a wicket that was offering extra bounce from length areas, making hitting difficult. The strikers were on 44/3 from 6 overs but they pushed on a late surge to get their team to a respectable 87/6 from 10 overs – the Divers will fancy their bowling attack to defend the total.

The Divers bowling innings got off to fine start as Hooper bowled Ozico Williams. Richie Richards came to bowl the 2nd over and he accounted for Atticus Browne who slog swept into mid wicket’s hand. The powerplay finished with the score on 26/2. Obed McCoy and Razine Browne combined to concede only 16 runs and take 2 wickets for the 5th and 6th over, leaving 48 required from 24 deliveries.

Razine Browne came for the 8th over and Kenneth Dember stroked a beauiful six down the ground. Kevin Abraham joined the party and hammered a six over mid wicket – 18 runs now required from 12 deliveries.

Braxie Browne delivered a dot ball, then got a wicket with the 2nd delivery. The next 3 deliveries had singles, leaving 2 required from the final delivery. The delivery was hit to cover, who then returned it easy for the bowler who then missed it and allowed for an additional run, leaving the Rangers elated while the Divers were dejected. It would have been the first super over of the tournament. Kenneth Dember was the hero with the bat, hitting 45 from 27 deliveries, stroking 1 four and 4 sixes. Grenadines Divers now will wait on the final match to know if they qualify for the semi-finals tomorrow.
