Match Report: Match 19 – Dark View Explorers vs Fort Charlotte Strikers
Fort Charlotte Strikers won the toss and chose to bat. A new opening pair was tried with Sealroy Williams and Olanzo Billingy. It paid dividends as they had a first wicket partnership of 53. Olanzo Billingy laced into Maxwell Edwards and the over conceded 28 runs and brought back respectability to the score after a pretty sedate start in the powerplay.
Darius Martin was introduced and had the dangerous Billingy retire hurt on 32 from 18 balls. Billingy had hit 2 fours and crunched 3 sixes, 2 of those going out the ground. With the score on 55/1 from 7 overs, the Strikers had the license to go for the kill. They were dealt a blow when Hooper had Gidron Pope bowled for 1. Ronald Scott came to the crease and blazed his way towards 26 from 10 balls, hitting 1 four and muscling 3 sixes, one which went out the ground. The Strikers finished on 92/3 from their 10 overs.
The Strikers also made a change to bowling combination. It was all out spin attack in the powerplay – it was rewarded as the Explorers could only get 28/2 and had lost their 2 big wicket in Deron Greaves (run out) and Lindon James, caught on the final delivery of the powerplay.
The Strikers continued to a strong hold on the game from there on in. Kirton Lavia and Ray Jordan’s 4 overs only costed 18 runs and had two wickets. Chelson Stowe, though the most expensive of the bowlers, kept taking wickets to slow any momemtum the Explorers got – he ending with 3-24. The Explorers finished on 75/7, losing by 17 runs.
