Match Report: 15th Match – Fort Charlotte Strikers vs Botanical Gardens Rangers

Fort Charlotte Strikers won the toss and choose to field. Ray Jordan was up to bowl the first over and started with 5 wides. On the third ball, Oziko Williams was dropped at third man, with the ball going for 4 – another disastrous start by the Strikers. Rasheed Fredericks bowled the 2nd over and recovered well, only conceding 6 wickets. Chelson Stowe bowled the 3rd over and conceded 15 runs allowing the Rangers to slip away with some bad bowling. The tidy Fredericks came back for the final powerplay over and bowled it well until the final delivery which went for 4, finishing the powerplay 41/0.

The score kept flowing freely after the powerplay with both Ozico Williams and Hyron Shallow taking advantage of the sloppy bowling attack of the Strikers. 37 runs came between the 5th and 7th over. Lavia was back for the 8th over and bowled a brilliant one, dismissing Ozico Williams for 30 from 22 balls and keeping the score to 85/1. The skipper Cottoy bowled the 9th over conceding 11 runs, with Currency swinging a six over mid wicket. Ray Jordan bowled a good last over and the Rangers finishing on 101/2 from their 10 overs. Hyron Shallow finished not out on 45 from 29 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes and Romel Currency with 14 from 9 balls with 1 six.

Kesrick Williams bowled the first over and it was an eventful one. Renrick Williams top edged for 4 then sent one through the leg side for 4. Williams then followed up with a yorker and had him bowled. Sealroy Williams got a promotion and stroked Williams beautifully through covers for four off his first delivery. Kenneth Dember bowled the 2nd over and only conceded 4 runs. Nigel Small bowled the 3rd over and conceded 14 runs, the highlight being a gigantic six from Gidron that went to the nearby defunct E.T Joshua Airport. Kenneth Dember came back to bowl the final powerplay over to bring back some control to the match for the Rangers but Strikers managed to get 9 runs, with Williams showing his class and square cutting for 4, carrying the Strikers to 40/1 – the Strikers best powerplay score for the tournament.

The 5th and 6th over will be two very important overs and the Strikers cashed in, with Sealroy Williams upping the anti, hitting Abraham for two sixes and one four in the 6th over, carrying the score to 68/1. Romario Bibby came on for the 7th over and struck gold when he removed the dangerous Gidron Pope and only conceding 4 runs. Kimali Williams came back for the 8th over and only conceded 5 runs, leaving 25 runs required from 12 deliveries. They fell 6 runs short with Kesrick Williams and Romario Bibby finishing with two tight overs. Sealroy Williams top scored with 35 from 22 balls hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. Kesrick Williams finished with 2/18 from his 2 overs.
