
Match Report: 5th Match – Fort Charlotte Strikers vs Salt Pond Breakers
Fort Charlotte Strikers headed into their match looking for their first win, while the Salt Pond Breakers looked to continue their winning ways. Strikers won the toss and chose to field. The Strikers improved on their poor powerplay bowling from the first game, but still made some errors which allowed the Breakers to take more control of the game.
Sunil Ambris was playing more aggressively today. He was motoring along well until Kirton Lavia trapped him lbw for 29 from 20 balls (5 fours). That sprung the Strikers to life and they continued to take wickets to put a block on the Breakers to reduce them to 47-4 from 6.5 overs. Cottoy & Lavia combined during this phase to concede only 13 runs from 3 overs. Lavia finished with impressive figures of 2-10 from his 2 overs. After that period, the Breakers fought their way back into the game, taking 41 runs from the last 19 deliveries, taking their total to 88 from 10 overs.
Fort Charlotte Strikers bad opening phase continued, as they could only get 19 from 3.3 overs when they lost their first wicket. Things didn’t improve much as they continued to struggle, being 29-3 in 5.3 overs. Chelson Stowe came and added some brief life to the innings, scoring 18 from 8 balls, hitting 1 four and 2 sixes. It wasn’t enough to get them back on track, and they continued to stall their way along, finishing on 68 from their 10 overs, losing by 20 runs.
