Match Report: 3rd Match – Fort Charlotte Strikers vs Dark View Explorers

May 22, 2020

Dark View Explorers won the toss and chose to bowl. The Strikers got off to a very sedate start. Darius Martin bowled with lively pace and accuracy, getting some lift with the new ball off the wicket to keep the big hitting opening combination of the Strikers at bay. After the departure of Scott, being run out, Renrick Williams brought some much needed impetus to the innings, striking 2 clean sixes in his 20 runs from 14 balls. Gidron Pope, West Indies U19 World Cup winner in 2016, started to get into stride and helped to push the score along. A late cameo from Chelson Stowe, 13 runs from 6 balls, containing one humungous six, carried the total to a respectable 75 from the allotted 10 overs.

In the chase, Ray Jordan bowled a beautiful first over, bowling with decent rhythm and pace. It was a brilliant first over defending a below par total, but it was ruined with a simple 4 byes from a wicket keeping error. That seemed to be the momentum drive that the Explorers needed as they went on to get 33 runs from the next two overs. The Explorers lost two quick wickets on 37, but there wasn’t any other hiccup along the way. The Strikers didn’t help themselves as they conceded 20 extras, allowing the Explorers batsmen to bat without risk, which the pair of Lindon James (18 from 16 balls) and Andrew Thomas (17 from 15 balls) did easily. They coasted towards their target of 76 with minimum fuss.

Summary Scores:
Fort Charlotte Strikers 75/5 (10 overs)
