Match Preview: 3rd Match – Dark View Explorers vs Fort Charlotte Strikers

May 21, 2020

The final match of the historic first day of the inaugural VPL T10 will see the clash between Dark View Explorers and Fort Charlotte Strikers. Dark View Explorers will be lead by Lindon James, one of the earliest cricketer to play T20 cricket on the big stage, the then Stanford T20 tournament. Fort Charlotte Strikers will be lead by Keron Cottoy, a very experienced all round cricketer.

In The Spotlight

For Dark View Explorers, the captain Lindon James will be in the spotlight. Although originally starting as a wicket keeper batsman, over the last few years, he’s blossomed into a very reliable seam bowler in all forms of local cricket. The Explorers possess a bit of pace in their bowling attack – they will be looking at Darius Martin, one of the fastest bowler in the tournament, to make early in roads in what would be favourable seam bowling conditions.

For Fort Charlotte Strikers, they will be hoping to defend their honour, relying on the experience of their leader in Keron Cottoy to lead the way all round. Cottoy will be in positive spirits as he recently came off a spectacular first class season with the bat for the Windward Islands. The Strikers also has the fiery pace bowling option in Windward Islands fast bowler, Ray Jordan. In Gidron Pope and Ronald Scott, they possess two of the most destructive six hitters in local cricket.

The weather is expected to be clear and sunny throughout the day, with very little chance of rain.

Pitch Conditions

With the tournament having 10 days of consecutive cricket, an extra covering of grass was left on the wicket to preserve the pitch throughout the tournament. Fast bowlers will be looking on with some excitement. Conditions may force some teams to alter any plans of playing a spin heavy bowling attack.

Team News

Fort Charlotte Strikers will be without Olanzo Billingy, who twisted his ankle during a practice match a few days ago.
